True story: Alien is this correspondent’s favorite film.
Those canny face-hugging xenomorphs, based on the biomechanical musings of Swiss surrealist H.R. Giger, were the stuff of Oscar-worthy nightmares.
And while Giger passed this May, he’s now risen from the dead with H.R. Giger Polaroids, just released.
From the Swiss publishing house Antenne, Polaroids features a trove of unpublished pics and art, from playful to “Um, WTF?”
A few standouts:
- Blondie’s Debbie Harry, robed and bedazzled in a Giger-designed metal headband
- A series of weirdly manipulated, heavily distressed self-portraits
- And … some models using the Alien xenomorph head as a fetish toy (so NSFW)
Hey, the man’s art was his life.
