Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has long joked about running for office, but a campaign committee set up with the Federal Election Commission on Sunday to explore a presidential run for the actor is reigniting rumors that the former WWE champ is serious about taking on President Trump in 2020.
“I think that (running is) a real possibility,” Hollywood’s highest-paid movie star told GQ in May, then went on to describe how he’d be different than Trump. “Personally, I feel that if I were president, poise would be important. Leadership would be important. Taking responsibility for everybody. [If I didn’t agree with someone] on something, I wouldn’t shut them out. I would actually include them. The first thing we’d do is we’d come and sit down and we’d talk about it. It’s hard to categorize right now how I think he’s doing, other than to tell you how I would operate, what I would like to see.”

Rolling Stone reports that a man named Kenton Tilford, based in West Virginia, filed the “Run the Rock 2020” campaign committee on behalf of Johnson, a registered independent, with the FEC on Sunday. Running with the slogan “more poise, less noise,” Johnson just might be laying the groundwork for a slow-motion jog to the White House.
