Some former presidents keep a low profile after leaving office. Barack Obama is not one of them. He’s been involved in everything from podcasting to film production; his latest project is a book version of his podcast with Bruce Springsteen. The idea of very famous people hanging out with, well, other very famous people isn’t much of a surprise; even so, a new report on a forthcoming Obama-centric social event offers a glimpse at what could be the year’s highest-profile gathering.

Barack Obama turns 60 next week and, according to a report at The Guardian, he has plans to celebrate. That’s set to involve a party at the Obamas’ estate on Martha’s Vineyard. “The guest list includes a large number of family members and friends to mark the occasion,” the White House said in a statement. “The private event will be paid for with the family’s personal funds.”

The aforementioned event will be held outdoors, according to The Guardian. The Hill reports that guests must take a COVID-19 test before attending.

As for who those guests might be, The Hill heard from one source about some of the names to expect — including Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney. It’s an A-list event for sure — but it’s also good to hear that the party will be mindful of the pandemic.
