Larry Bleiberg

He’s the past President of the Society of American Travel Writers and an eight-time winner of the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Awards, including editing the best newspaper travel section in North America.
Larry has visited all 50 states and nearly 70 countries. His favorite word is: Go.
Over the years, he has interviewed celebrities ranging from Lyle Lovett to Larry the Cable Guy to Guy Fieri; plus other folks like Ken Burns and the late U.S. congressman John Lewis.
A Northwestern University journalism graduate, Larry’s the former travel editor of The Dallas Morning News and Coastal Living magazine, and has written for scores of publications and websites including BBC Travel, CNN, Washington Post, and USA Today, along with AAA Explorer, AARP Magazine, Afar, Atlas Obscura, Better Homes and Gardens, Chicago Tribune, Cruise Critic, Fodors, Garden & Gun magazine, Los Angeles Times, MSN.com, Minneapolis Star-Tribune, San Francisco Chronicle, Southbound magazine, Toronto Star, U.S. News & World Report, Vancouver Sun, Virginia Living and Virtuoso magazine, and many others. His work has been syndicated internationally, appearing in newspapers and on websites around the globe.
Larry’s also a travel guide editor and writer. He’s the co-author of National Geographic’s The 100 Best Affordable Vacations, and The Unofficial Guide to Britain's Best Days Out, Theme Parks and Attractions. He also has contributed to several National Geographic books including Timeless Journeys, Great American Eating Experiences, and World's Best Cities.
He also is the founder of CivilRightsTravel.com, an online guide to visiting sites from the historic civil rights movement, and lives in Charlottesville, Virginia.
