Pablo Picasso’s series of light paintings were not a planned project, but the result of a moment of inspiration from LIFE photographer Gjon Mili. Picasso gave Mili only 15 minutes to experiment with the process. Afterwards, the two made over 30 portraits together. Read more about their partnership here.
