The Hotel Terme Millepini in Padua, Italy, isn’t cheap — but it comes with a crazy view: 131 feet down, to the bottom of the world’s deepest pool.
Officially known as Y-40 The Deep Joy, the pool is as much a training center as it is a tourist destination, providing a training ground for free divers looking to test their limits at some serious depths in a controlled environment. It’s held the Guinness World Record for the deepest pool since its opening in 2014, displacing Belgium’s Nemo 33.
The water is heated to 93 degrees Fahrenheit, meaning there’s no need for wetsuits. And a special tunnel-like passage through the space allow visiting scaredy cats to view the diving space from the safety of a glass enclosure.
A room at the four-star Hotel Terme Millepini includes a ticket to the pool and is recommendable independent of it — non-diving plus-ones can instead spend their time exploring the hotel’s expansive spa area and opt for a massage instead.
