As hiking-centric marketing promotions go, this one’s a winner.
The world has plenty of famous long-distance trails: the Appalachian Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, Britain’s C2C (say it “sea to sea” — or “Coast to Coast”), France’s GR20 through Corsica, and many more.
None of them, though, are focused on the heavenly gift of donuts.
The founding fathers and mothers of Butler County, Ohio, didn’t make that mistake. Ergo: the Donut Trail, a tour through a lovely section of the Midwest, united by bakeries.
A few things to keep in mind: Our friends in Butler County are using the word “trail” loosely: Realistically, you’re going to be navigating between points on the “trail map” with a GPS and a car. Also: These are very popular donuts. As the mapmakers make clear, bakeries often close when they sell out — and some sell out by 10 A.M.(!)
