Obi-Wan Kenobi is coming back to life in Star Wars, according to a new story at Deadline. That’d be the younger Obi-Wan. Ewan McGregor is reportedly set to return in a new Star Wars TV series being developed for the Disney+ streaming service. It is not the already-in-production series The Mandalorian, which debuts Nov. 12.
While the Star Wars prequels weren’t memorable (or good), McGregor’s pony-tailed take on Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi was certainly worthy of a role made famous by the late Alec Guinness. McGregor appeared in three George Lucas-directed Star Wars films: The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005), while also having a voice cameo in The Force Awakens (2015).
According to Deadline, McGregor’s return and a synopsis of the new series could debut at Disney’s D23 Expo later this month. A spinoff of Star Wars: Rogue One will also debut on the new streaming service at some future date.
