The College Football Playoff national championship game on Jan. 8 will pit Georgia against Alabama. This is Alabama’s sixth championship tilt in nine seasons, and Georgia is aiming for its first title since 1980. Sports Illustrated put together a list of storylines to follow over the next week. Though both teams took long roads to get to the game, that is less important than the fact that two SEC squads will play in the most important game of the season, writes SI. The second storyline to follow involves Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. Will Alabama be able to slow them down? Georgia’s defense also needs to bounce back from the game against Oklahoma, which proved that Georgia’s defense is not impenetrable. But on the flip side, Alabama’s offense will need more from quarterback Jalen Hurts and the rest of the team to get past Georgia in the title game.
