Needed only 23 yards to break Michael Vick’s single-season record for rushing yards by a quarterback, breakout star Lamar Jackson got them on Baltimore’s opening drive as he led the Ravens down the field for a touchdown against the New York Jets.

Though that possession ended with running back Mark Ingram rumbling in for a score, the rest of Baltimore’s scores during their 42-21 beatdown of the Jets on Thursday Night Football came via Jackson’s arm, as he had five TD passes on the night.

The career-high in touchdowns passes was the highlight of a night that saw Jackson finish with 212 passing yards and 86 rushing yards.

“It’s pretty cool,” Jackson said of breaking Vick’s record. “My favorite player growing up. It’s amazing, and I’m going to cherish that forever and just got to keep it going. Records are made to be broken, like he said. I heard him say that, and it’s an honor for me to do it.”

With the five touchdowns passes, Jackson also set the league record for passing touchdowns by a quarterback age 22 or under. Now with 33 TD passes on the season, Jackson is well past the previous mark of 28 which was set by QB Jameis Winston.

Thanks to the win, the Ravens now sit at 12-2 on the season and have clinched the division title in the AFC North. With a win next week against the Browns in Cleveland, Baltimore will lock up the top seed in the AFC and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

After Jackson broke Vick’s record, Fox aired a pre-taped video of the retired quarterback congratulating the MVP favorite. Then, about 30 minutes later, another quarterback joined the conversation.

Jackson was told of Brady’s tongue-in-cheek challenge after the game.

“He’s probably going to win that race,” Jackson said. “Rollerblades on grass? Oh man. I’m going to see what I can do. Tom still got a little bit in him. I’ve seen him.”
