Two down, one to go.

Justify won the 143rd running of the Preakness Stakes on Saturday, keeping his Triple Crown chances alive after also winning the Kentucky Derby.

Ridden by jockey Mike Smith, the horse entered as a 1-5 favorite, making him the sixth straight favorite to win the Preakness. Good Magic (5-1) finished second; Quip (11-1) crossed the line third.

What makes Justify’s domination so impressive is that he didn’t race at all as a 2-year-old. So in winning, he broke a 136-year-old “Curse of Apollo,” named after the last horse to accomplish the feat.

Justify will attempt to win the last leg of the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes, on Saturday, June 9.
