During the regular season, the New England Patriots traded Jimmy Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers. However, he still received a bonus for the Patriots’ Sunday victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Championship game. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Garoppolo gets $79,000 thanks to New England’s playoff wins and AFC title. Plus, he could get an additional $112,000 if the Patriots win the Super Bowl. Even if they lose, Garoppolo pockets $56,000. Since being traded, Garoppolo has been a central figure in the off-field storylines circulating the Patriots. ESPN reported that there are power struggles between Patriots’ owner Robert Kraft, head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady. Some of the tension stemmed from the fact that Belichick didn’t want to trade Garoppolo.
