Why Jaguars Fans Are Trying to Vote Yannick Ngakoue of the Ravens Into Pro Bowl

It all ties back to a clause in a trade that Jacksonville made with Minnesota

Even though he no longer plays for their team, Jacksonville Jaguars fans are still voting for the team’s third-round pick from 2016 to make the Pro Bowl.

When Jacksonville traded defensive end Yannick Ngakoue to the Minnesota Vikings during the offseason for a second-round draft pick and a conditional fifth-round pick, one of the terms of the deal was that the fifth-rounder would turn into a fourth if Ngakoue goes to the Pro Bowl this season. And if the 25-year-old goes to the Pro Bowl and the Vikings win the Super Bowl, the fifth-round selection turns into a third-round pick.

So even though the Vikings traded him to Baltimore for a pair of picks prior to the deadline, those conditions still apply to Ngakoue as a Raven because the language in the trade agreement is not team-specific, a source told ESPN.

That’s why Jaguars fans who are desperate for reinforcements for their 1-8 are up-voting Ngakoue to the Pro Bowl in the hope of turning that conditional fifth-round pick into a fourth-rounder.

Ngakoue will only get to the Pro Bowl with help from Jacksonville fans — and potentially Bears, Lions and Packers fans hoping to hurt their division rival — as he only has 15 tackles and five sacks between his time with the Vikings and Ravens.
