Though it may be surprising, Blake Bortles is the best quarterback in the NFL. Yes, the same Blake Bortles who got benched in training camp for Chad Henne and was almost cut before the season started. Over the past three years, he may have thrown 41 interceptions, only 69 touchdown passes, but since December started, no quarterback in the NFL outranks Bortles in passer rating, total QBR, yards per attempt or touchdown passes. He has completed 71.4 percent of his passes for 903 yards, seven touchdowns and not one interception. This means there are three options for how the Jaguars will handle his contract situation this offseason. First, they could try to sign him into an extension. But does his current performance outshine his history? Another option is let him play out the year. Finally, they could let him walk, though that seems the least likely at this point.
