When it comes to his next contract, Colin Kaepernick is looking at a two-for-one deal.
According to Adidas North America president Mark King, the brand would like to sign the unemployed quarterback to an endorsement deal, but only if he is able to land another NFL contract.
Adidas likes that Kaepernick has gained attention because of his politics, but doesn’t want to create the impression they are “taking advantage of this noise or interest that he had generated.”
Therefore, to justify signing him, Adidas needs Kaepernick to land another NFL job.
“We’re not in the business of activism, we’re in the business of sport. But allowing our athletes to tell their story, it’s really important to us,” King said, according to AZ Central Sports.“If they’re an activist in a way that brings attention to something that moves the world forward, even if there’s controversy at that moment, we’re really interested in those athletes because I think it represents the world today.”
The odds of Kaepernick signing with the Seahawks, the team he had a scheduled workout with last week that fell through, got longer yesterday after the team signed another quarterback, Austin Davis, to back up Wilson.
Last week, the team signed journeyman QB Stephen Morris after canceling their workout with Kaepernick.
