After the Green Bay Packers were officially eliminated from playoff contention on Monday, they announced the Aaron Rodgers had been placed on injured reserve and that quarterback Joe Callahan was signed on to take his place. Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said the decision to put Rodgers on IR was due to many factors and that it was in the quarterback’s best interest, though the star is not happy about it. Rodgers returned to the Packers Week 15 after missing seven games due to a broken collarbone. He threw three touchdowns during his first game back against the Carolina Panthers, but he was hit 12 times, including three sacks, and threw three interceptions. Callahan, 24, was part of the Packers practice squad for the first six weeks of the season.
