The Four Upstate Rentals You Need

By The Editors

The city, as they say down south, is colder than a witch’s tit.

And this weekend is three days long.

So we suggest you get out to more pleasant environs (if, well, ok, just as cold) with this: our very brief guide to four of our favorite Airbnb haunts Upstate.

Good for this weekend. Good for beyond.

And good for hot toddies by the fireplace and avoiding the clusterfrost outside.

Act quickly, friend.

Rhinebeck – River View Cottage

Handsome woody interiors, a cozy lofted bedroom, and one of the more stately bathtubs we’ve come across. Plus Hudson vistas and a quick stroll to some of the Valley’s best restos. Bonus: room for six if another couple (or two) should care to join.

Beacon – Equestrian Suite

A refurbished showstopper atop an actual working horse barn just a mile outside Beacon, the Equestrian Suite is gorgeously appointed and offers jaw-dropping views of the river valley. The kicker: a window overlooking the barn’s main aisle, where horses lounge in the stalls.

Poughkeepsie – Artist Guest House

Airy and modern, this spacious 1BR apartment sits on the first floor of a completely refurbished 1930s Craftsman home just a couple minutes from historic Main Street. Hit the grocery store before you arrive, this is a kitchen you’re going to want to cook in.

New Paltz – Cabin in the Woods

Set amid rolling farmland at the foot of the Shawangunk Ridge, the “White Room” is perfect for decompression: just cozy, low-ceiling’d digs, postcard views of The Gunks and nary another human for miles.
