Willie Nelson first found chart success as a songwriter in the 1950s and ’60s, penning hits like Patsy Cline’s signature song “Crazy” (which he would later record himself). Nelson would eventually rise to fame as a solo performer in his own right in the ’70s, with his brand of “outlaw country.” Today, Nelson celebrates his 83rd birthday. Watch a live version of “Pancho and Lefty” below, featuring the late Merle Haggard.
