Surfing. It’s something we Angelenos are known to do.

And for some of us, it’s something we pretend to do.

Either way, say aloha to The Surfboard Scholar, a board-hoarding broheim who sells vintage boards at his Surfboard Paloozas, the next being this Saturday (April 5th).

The Scholar, a.k.a. Kristopher Tom, scours SoCal on the weekends for surfboards from the late ’70s and ’80s: brightly colored twin fins, neon shorties and faded longboards.

Once he amasses 150 boards, he hosts a Palooza to unload them. If he doesn’t have something you like, tell him what you’re looking for, and he’ll keep his eyes peeled.

Beginners will like these planks because they’re decently priced and fun to surf, and Tom is an expert at pairing folks with the right board.

He is also a patient teacher (by day he teaches public school teachers) and he’ll take you to the most pristine beaches, where the learnin’s easy.

Because what’s surfing without the views, man?
