Palm Springs weekends can go one of two ways.

The first starts with Coachella and ends with the Monday-est Monday of the year.

The second involves massages, multi-course dinners, sunshine and a new boutique resort with 25 private bungalows on the premises.

Let’s talk about the second. It’s called L’Horizon.

L’Horizon was designed by famed modernist William Cody, and its bungalows are simple single-story pads with beds draped in puffy white linens and vintage wood furniture that shows well in the natural light.

Several of the bungalows also sport outdoor showers, and there’s even a single residential unit available if you’re in the market for a longer escape.

The spa opens this month and offers outdoor treatments and complimentary yoga. They also host guided hikes around the surrounding mountains.

SO•PA, their full-service restaurant, is helmed by the region’s only Michelin starred chef, Giacomo Pettinari, who once worked at the oft-namechecked and recently shuttered El Bulli in Spain. The breakfast and lunch are pretty solid, but dinner is anything but, with dishes like squid ink potato pillows topped with lobster, crustacean reduction, cipolotto and tomato concasse.

Rooms are booking fast, so don’t act lazy until you get there.
