Hear ye, Hooligans.
Put down your knives. Release your chains. Stop slicking your mops and lend me your ears.
There’s a party in the woods, and it’s going to be wild.
They’re calling it the Hooligan Hoedown, and we’re expecting two days of rip-roaring competition, cold beer, strong whiskey, live music and open-air sleeping.
Brought to you by those motor-loving haberdashers at Iron & Resin, the event takes over Pozo Saloon in the soft, oak-covered hills due east of San Luis Obispo on October 17th and 18th.
Pozo is no spring chicken: been in operation since the 1850s, when it was a stopover for stagecoaches and cowboys. Safe to say it’s seen its fair share of troublemakers over the years.
But it hasn’t seen the likes of this.
On the itinerary: motorcycle jousting, pumpkin tossing and a relay race involving plungers and toilet paper.
What can we say: it’s harvest season.
After sundown, the bands — bluegrass acts like Little Hurricane, Moonshine Collective and Lou Pine — take the stage and the Pozo plates its famous tri-tip. Cold beers flow and shots of stiff whiskey make the rounds.
Res ipsa loquitur. Let the good times roll.
