French Bliss

By The Editors

When it comes to food, the French swear by one of two camps.

The stuffy Michelin Guides (they of the stars) or the frolicsome Le Fooding – they who, Monty Python-like, fart in the Michelin Guide’s general direction.

In other words, Le Fooding are the fun ones. The ones doing this:

Le Grand Fooding Crush: Paris-LA, a two-day échange culturelle in the Geffen Contemporary’s courtyard, coming to town next weekend.

As opposed to a Michelin event, at Le Fooding there are food carts. There are belly dancers. There are wandering musicians. There are — sacrebleu! — sliders.

You’ll see Saturne Paris’s Sven Chartier parked next to local foodtruck guru Roy Choi. And Carolynn Spence (of Chateau Marmont) collaborating with “bestie” Jean-François Piège on a dish they call “Drinkable Pizza.”

Jockeying the tables: French house icon Fred Falke, M83’s Jordan Lawlor and KCRW’s own Mathieu Schreyer.

Plus an exclusive “Foodtrack” prepped by David Lynch.

Which means all you have to bring is a little joie de vivre and an empty stomach.

Now go away, Michelin, or I shall taunt you a second time.

Additional tickets for both nights (April 26th and 27th) go on sale Monday at 10:00 AM thanks to S. Pellegrino. Ignore the “Sold Out” disclaimer. They’ll be there.
