Would You Go Under the Knife for a Sperm “Kill Switch”?

Like picking a favorite Beatle or tattooing your face, a vasectomy is not a decision one should regard lightly.

The procedure is considered permanent within the medical community, and although it can be reversed, there’s no guarantee your boys will ever swim in the Phelpsian way they once did. Luckily, a German entrepreneur claims to have an alternative to the Snip.

The Bimek SLV, which creator Clemens Bimek calls a “spermatic duct valve,” is designed to render a man temporarily impotent by sending the flow of his sperm back down to the testicles before climax.

The device measures 1.8 centimeters, weighs two grams and toggles on and off by flipping a switch implanted in the spermatic ducts. Bimek believes strongly enough in the project that he recently underwent the half-hour insertion procedure himself.
