The Detroit riots are ready for their closeup.

A new film from the Academy Award-winning writer and director of The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty explores systemic racism and the terrifying 1967 civil unrest in Detroit, Michigan.

Detroit, written by Mark Boal and directed by Kathryn Bigelow, stars John Krasinski Will Poulter, Jacob Latimore, Jason Mitchell, and Anthony Mackie.

The movie hits theaters on Aug. 4.
