The festival may have been virtual, but the beers were very real. Turns out a pandemic can’t stop the Great American Beer Festival from happening — although this year’s edition of the festival was the first to be held entirely online.

All told, the festival awarded 272 medals to beers representing 240 breweries. Several took home multiple medals, with Indiana’s Sun King Brewing receiving 4 total. Colorado’s Cannonball Creek Brewing Company, California’s Riip Beer Company and Washington’s Chuckanut Brewery each earned 3.

Some of the categories featured hundreds of entries. 377 beers competed in “Juicy or Hazy India Pale Ale,” with Wren House Brewing Company‘s Spellbinder taking home the Gold. 199 beers vied for position in the category of “Wood & Barrel-Aged Strong Stout.” Here, the Gold went to Kane Brewing Company‘s A Night to End All Dawns.

The full list of winners is available online. Maybe it’ll point you in the direction of your new favorite beer, inspire you to try something you haven’t had before or alert you to the existence of a great local brewery.
