What’s This Hamptons-Esque Beach House Doing on the Jersey Shore?

There’s more to the Jersey Shore than Staten Islanders in muscle tees — a stereotype that lingers for people whose media diet consists largely of late-’00s MTV. The reality? Over a hundred miles of coastline with real estate a fraction of the cost you’d find in the Hamptons. Sure, the governor works hard at keeping us from enjoying them — but the Jersey beaches are terrific.

Every once in a while, we find a house that proves the point. Witness the Sea Bright House

Jersey City-based studio Jeff Jordan Architects designed the house, which is constructed as a series of blocks, with the living area on top and bedrooms on the bottom. The real standout, though, is the roofdeck: If you think you can only get a view like that in East Hampton, please allows us to correct you.

Of course, if you’re mainlining rosé and model hook-ups between now and Labor Day, this might not be the spot for you. For everybody else, though, we vote Jersey.
