On October 25th, 1968, at the Great Hall at Surrey University in Battersea, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and John Bonham played their first official concert as Led Zeppelin. By our calculations, that means history’s greatest rock-and-roll band has a 50th birthday coming up.
Jimmy Page certainly is well aware of that fact, and he plans on handing out some presents next year to celebrate.
In an interview with the Academy of Achievement, Page said previously unreleased Zeppelin material would definitely be released in 2018 in honor of the quartet’s 50th. “There’ll be Led Zeppelin product coming out, for sure, that people haven’t because I’m working on that,” Page said during the 50-minute interview. “Next year will be the 50th year, so there’s all manner of surprises coming out.”
Unfortunately, we’re not sure if the unheard tracks will be studio cuts, live concert recordings or some sort of mix of both.

As for a live reunion to celebrate 50? Don’t hold your breath. Singer Robert Plant threw water on the idea for the umpteenth time in October.
