This 25-Year-Old Lived for More Than a Year Without a Heart

Twenty-five-year-old Stan Larkin survived for 555 days, lugging around a 13.5-pound backpack—with his artificial heart in it. The device is made by Arizona company, SynCardia Systems, which produces the machine as a bridge to a successful donor-heart transplant. Luckily, Larkin received his own heart on May 9, but you can follow his amazing story leading up to that day in the video below.
