The last professionally-taken photographs of Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe, many which have never been publicly seen, are going up for auction.

The collection of over 150 photographs taken by photographer George Barris are the highlight of an auction currently being held by online auction house Paddle8 that also features other memorabilia and artwork.

Taken in June 1962, the images of the ‘Some Like It Hot’ star were shot in various locations in L.A. and were originally part of an assignment for Cosmopolitan Magazine.  The Barris sessions took place just after her 36th birthday and weeks before her tragic death.

A private collector directly acquired the images from Barris in the 1980’s. Each photo in the collection is estimated to go for $8,000 to $24,00. The auction will run until August 11th.
