Yosemite National Park, a destination for millions of visitors annually, is, after all, raw nature. And sometimes, it can rear its ugly head.

Yesterday, at the popular rock climbing ascent, the 3,000-foot-high El Capitan, a chunk of rock broke off, killing one and injuring another, per The New York Times.

The rockfall occurred along the Waterfall Route, and park officials are unsure of whether the dead and injured people were attempting to climb the vertical rock formation, or were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Per the Times, anywhere from 20-25 people die at Yosemite yearly from accidents like drownings or falls.
