Situated in the Dendera Temple complex in southeastern Egypt is a series of some of the nation’s best-preserved ancient structures. The crown jewel of the complex is the main Temple of Hathor, built to honor the Egyptian goddess of joy, femininity, and motherhood.
Particularly stunning is the hand-carved and colorful artwork on the ceiling and walls of the Temple. Depictions include Cleopatra and her son, whose father was Roman Emperor Julius Caesar. Take a short visual tour of its interiors below.
