When it comes to choosing an auto, the sea is vast, the options near limitless. It’s tough to know what you want out there.

But it’s fairly easy to figure out what you don’t want. You don’t want a gearbox that fails or steering that punks out. You don’t want vinyl seats. You don’t want a PT Cruiser. So unless you have an odd penchant for throwing money down the drain at the repair shop, here are the top (er, bottom) 10 vehicles rated the least reliable from this year’s annual Auto Reliability Survey from Consumer Reports.

10. FIAT 500L
Downfalls include trouble with the automatic gearbox slipping and locking up and finicky power accessories in the drive system and the car itself.

9. CHEVROLET TAHOE/GMC YUKON
Bummer steering vibrations, failing powered accessories and in-car electronics that have wack attacks.

8. FORD FIESTA
Shifting this one is a pain in the arse, with additional transmission and power accessory issues, noises and leaks. Fun!

7. RAM 2500
Drivers took issue with steering vibrations, emissions control, sensors and the 4WD components. Which, in our mind, would essentially be the whole point of owning a Ram, no?

6. TESLA MODEL X
We’re rooting for you Tesla. We really are. But get those damn Falcon-wing doors, locks and latches in check, alright?

5. CHRYSLER 200
You might recall this number’s nine-speed automatic gearbox. It didn’t go so well for the manufacturer. It’s still not going so well.

4. CHEVROLET SUBURBAN/GMC YUKON XL
Leaking sunroofs will literally rain on your parade.

3. JEEP RENEGADE
There are a lot of mishaps we would tolerate to cruise around in a Jeep, but failing brakes are a dealbreaker if there ever was one.

2. FORD FOCUS
Jerky to drive, even at low speeds, with a rough-around-the-edges, unfocused transmission.

1. CADILLAC ESCALADE
Cadillac, we hate to see it come to this. But if the AWD gets stuck in 4WD and the infotainment system doesn’t respond and the sunroof leaks — well, we’re just really going to need you to work on your communication skills if we’re going to move forward from here.
