We all need food on hand at the homestead. That’s a given.

Also a given: going to the grocery store is a major time suck.

Here’s that time back.

Say hello to Instacart, a virtual grocery store shopper, just launched in Los Angeles.

Why is this better than other home food delivery services? Let’s count the reasons.

1. They go to multiple stores. You can send them to Whole Foods for your organic produce and grass-fed steaks, Ralph’s for your Heinz 57 and cleaning supplies.

2. They shop day-of. The fee: a standard $3.99 for orders over $35 or $7.99 for anything less. If you want something within the hour, it’s $14.99.

3. Their site is similar to picking content on Netflix, and they suggest replacement items if something you selected is out of stock.

4. Their drivers pick the freshest produce, text you at the store, call to review your order and text when they’re en route. You can add items last minute, too.

5. And, best for last, they pick up alcohol.

So now you don’t have to go shopping this weekend. Happy Easter.
