Excitement is mounting following the news that the annual Victoria’s Secret lingerie runway show is set to hit Paris this month (it’ll air in the U.S. on Dec. 5 on CBS). Many details of the show are being kept strictly under wraps for now, but here’s what we know so far.
For the first time ever, the show will take place at Paris’s Grand Palais, which is traditionally home to the Chanel fashion week shows when Karl Lagerfeld is in town. Flooded with natural light in the daytime, the show is set to take place in the evening so show producers are sure to get creative with the steel and glass structure in terms of lighting and staging.
The show will be split into six sections, including “The Road Ahead,” which takes a multicultural approach; and “Secret Angel,” which was inspired by the idea of black-and-white secret agent films. The additional four sections are called “Mountain Romance,” “Pink Nation,” “Dark Angel,” and “Bright Night Angel.”
Alas, it wouldn’t be a Victoria’s Secret show without the famous Angels. Returning favorites that have been confirmed include Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes, Josephine Skriver, Lais Ribeiro, Martha Hunt, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio, Stella Maxwell, and Taylor Hill. Behati Prinsloo, who gave birth in September, will not be modeling in the show, but sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid made the cut. There has been no announcement yet on whether their friend Kendall Jenner will be making a reappearance. Another model could be making her return to the show after being absent in recent years.
Cara Delevingne has been invited to return to the Victoria’s Secret runway in November, according to a letter from the garment manufacturer posted to social media. Victoria’s Secret CMO Ed Razek wrote to Delevingne on Nov. 3, denying a report that the company didn’t want her in their 2014 London show, but rather “made every effort” to have her involved.
Delevingne was unavailable in 2014, because she was shooting her film debut, Paper Towns, in North Carolina, contradicting claims regarding her apparent suitability at the time, which a British tabloid claimed. She did not immediately comment on whether she would be part of the Victoria’s Secret show at Razek’s invitation. “It’s shameless to discuss women’s bodies just to sell papers,” she wrote, posting the letter as an image to Instagram.
Pop artists Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, and Bruno Mars are also all scheduled to perform on the runway. —Relaxnews with additional reporting by the RealClearLife staff
