There’s an old saying that goes, “Things of quality have no fear of time.”
This sentiment must have been top of mind for the designers at Seiko while coming up with their new dive watch, which replicates the feel and distinctive features of their signature 6309 “Turtle” timepiece (manufactured from 1976-1988).
Based on the 150-meter-rated 6309 that replaced the Seiko 6105 model once popularized by Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now, the new SRP777 is an homage to the Japanese brand’s much celebrated past.
The throwback model is outfitted with classic dial markings, a bezel with a double-ridged grip, a flexible silicone strap, LumiBrite hands and it is water resistant up to at least 200 meters. Despite the tech upgrades, the 45mm-diameter SRP777’s retro vibe is clear as crystal, and appealingly so.
If ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Do wind, though.
