Relationships are built on compromise.

The hero who decided to establish a Pappy Van Winkle-themed couples retreat was well aware of this fact.

Upstate New York’s The Point, an exclusive, adults-only resort on Saranac Lake, is hosting Old Rip Van Winkle Weekend this Memorial Day, a three-day event that will give 11 couples the chance to drink their way through a trove of bottles from the mythical bourbon maker.

Guest will stay in timber and stone “log mansions” built by William Avery Rockefeller and enjoy lavish dinners paired with a menu of Pappy’s rarest offerings, as curated by fourth-generation distiller Preston Van Winkle himself.

By day, occupants will partake of unlimited trout and bass fishing, golf, horseback riding and hunting. Dual-occupancy accommodations at the resort — like the Boathouse, Sentinel and Evensong mansions — cost $1,600 per night during the event and they are going like diamond-encrusted hotcakes.

Like all things Pappy, these thrills ain’t cheap. But looking is free:
