LAX Unveils New Luxury Terminal

LAX is rolling out the red carpet for the jet-setters of Los Angeles.

The airport recently unveiled its members-only luxury terminal called the Private Suite, which is an all-in-one spot the plebes of the world can only dream of experiencing. (There are similar setups at London’s Heathrow, as well as airports in Germany and Dubai.)

For one, private TSA screenings are done within the building, so there’s no fear of insanely-long security lines. The suite also cuts down on the time it takes for passengers to get to their private planes, as the concourses aren’t lengthy; and there aren’t the traditional ticket counters and boarding gates.

Members each get their own private suite (see above) while waiting for their flight, which includes a bathroom, food service pantry, daybed for two, and view of the runway. When their flights are ready to board, members are driven across the tarmac in a BMW 7-Series sedan, directly to the steps of their aircraft.

And members will never really have to do anything for themselves—save for that daybed nap: Each flyer is designated a team of eight butler-types, each of which has a specific job in assisting the member, whether it be sorting out luggage or getting the member settled in his private suite.

Members pay for tiered services, based on where and when they’re flying. Domestic flight services cost $2,700 per group of four; international, $3,000 per group of four; and an annual membership fee of $7,500 will get members a bunch of perks, including the ability to book a pre-flight massage, storage for cars while traveling, and the ability to book the experience six months in advance.
