Flight 666 Just Landed in HEL on Friday the 13th

If you’re gonna fly today, you gotta get over your paraskevidekatriaphobia.

That’s not fear of flying. That’s the irrational fear of Friday the 13th, a day without a clear origin of why it’s so terrifying, beyond some vague allusions to the Last Supper and a few early 20th-century books. Let’s assuage those jitters. Today, on Friday the 13th, a flight 666 from Copenhagen to Helsinki (HEL) landed safely and without incident. To really stick to the unlucky numerology, the plane was also 13 years old.

“It has been quite a joke among the pilots,” said the Finnair pilot Juha-Pekka Keidasto. “I’m not a superstitious man. It’s only a coincidence for me. If there’s some passenger who is anxious about this 666, our cabin crew is always happy to help them.”

Be warned: The next Finnair 666 flight on a Friday the 13th lands in (scary!) October. Which might also deliver out a little samhainophobia.
