George R.R. Martin, author of the fantasy series upon which the HBO hit Game of Thrones is based, may soon have another TV show built around his work. His novella, Nightflyers, is now in discussion to be adapted for a series on the Syfy channel, Variety reports. The story follows eight scientists and a telepath who try to contact alien life.

In the story, the explorers board a spaceship called “The Nightflyer,” that has a small crew and reclusive captain. But then, violent and frightening events occur, making it hard for those on board to know whom to trust, or even if they will survive.

A movie was adapted from the novella back in 1987. Martin will not be involved in the series, writes Variety, because he is already working on finishing The Winds of Winter, which is the sixth installment of his book series Song of Ice and Fire.
