Man Fulfills Lifelong Dream of Becoming a Model … at Age 60

Seven months ago, Philippe Dumas put himself out there in a way most don’t normally do–at his age, anyway. The 60-year-old Frenchman posted a gallery (embedded below) on the social networking site Reddit, saying: “Retired but not out, giving a last go to my lifelong dream of becoming a model, do I have it in me?”

The response was unanimous approval. His beard and sense of style certainly helped him stand out. That post gained traction in the Reddit community and the buzz continued to Instagram, which has become a popular place for scouting looks and talent in the fashion world. Since then, Dumas has signed with six modeling and talent agencies: VIP Models, Wanted, Masters, John Doe, Urban Talents, and Profil. He’s also been featured in several fashion campaigns and promotional images for consumer products.

Despite all this, Dumas seems to be an unfazed newcomer to the fashion world. “Very often, thanks to my job, I am surrounded by young people either on a movie set or a shoot. At my great surprise most of the time they  compliment my look and ask for a selfie with me. Finally, I keep thinking that getting older is not such a bad thing,” Dumas said in a recent interview.
