Jeans, T-shirt, hoodie.

The ideal fall getup is easy to describe but hard to perfect.

Helping you find it: Madewell, the denim stalwart that just intro’d its first line of men’s jeans — along with the ideal shirts and jackets to pair with them.

The keys here? A great price point, vintage looks and a sneaky dose of modern-day comfort.

A J.Crew-affiliated label that launched in 2006, Madewell built their name on women’s denim. Their new men’s collection certainly maintains the quality, although the initial offerings — 38 pieces total, with 21 denim styles in three fits, along with tees, sweatshirts and jean jackets — is a narrow and more carefully curated offering, at least at launch.

With jeans starting at $115, Madewell is certainly hitting a price point above direct-to-consumer and discount brands, yet much lower than higher-end and designer merchants. As well, they’re focusing on jeans that look vintage but supply modern-day stretch construction — think old-school style meets new-school comfort (and no break-in time).

For now, the company is offering three signature fits: an extra-lean skinny, standard slim and a straight leg with room in the hip and thigh for more muscular physiques. Variations in each fit come with cool details (distressing) and colors (like this saturated black).

A few things that stood out at launch:

Note: The denim is available on Madewell’s website or at Nordstrom, though not in Madewell stores … yet.
