New York apparel brand Goodlife has been making some of our favorite stylish, perfectly cut basics for quite some time, so whenever they add a new wrinkle to their sartorial mix — particularly one suitable for cold weather — we’re always keen to check it out.
Thus, we were excited to hear that they had partnered with sustainable textile wizards Polartec on a recycled fleece hoodie/short combo, and the results were every bit as legit as we had hoped — the fabric is 100% recycled, has an excellent coziness-to-weight ratio (lots of the former, very little of the latter) and boasts a deft knit of both white and colored yarns to give the overall pieces a bit of a snowy, heathered vibe.
The hoodie features matte rubber buttons at the neck (a nice detail that elevates the look) as well as individual side entry ‘roo pockets (a nice detail that helps you hold onto your keys). The shorts boast Goodlife’s signature slouchy-yet-tailored cut, comfy waistband and a back pocket — shockingly, not nearly as common on a pair of sweat shorts as one might think.
Three colors are on offer: heather grey, navy and, our favorite, the seasonal “black plum.” In your correspondent’s humble opinion, matching kit has maximum swag impact, but if you want to mix and match, more power to you. Any way you decide to go, you’ll be lounging more comfortably and stylishly than you likely were previously.
Additionally it bears noting that in the chilly-temp attire arena, Goodlife has also introduced a quilted nylon vest to their lineup with Thermore insulation and a streamlined vertical stitch pattern, as well as a handsome knit merino beanie — so in the event you need something to throw over that hoodie (or your head) when you step outside, they’ve got you covered there as well.
