Boot Up

By The Editors

What the well-dressed man will be wearing this season. This is the final edition of your Essential Fall Style Guide, Part Four: in which we recommend The Boots.

You’ve heard the expression “Die with your boots on?” It’s because boots go well with any occasion. Even with suits (true story, read below).

One caveat: no mukluks.

Paraboot Chelsea Boot

You can literally slip on these laceless, soft leather boots, a perfect all-weather option for casual or dressier affairs.
Use case: Dark selvedge denim.

Alden x Leffot Greenwich Boot

A Horween Chromexcel wingtip in a cool color (navy) with plantation crêpe soles. It’s got the look of a dress boot but a far more comfortable wear.
Use case: Cuffed trousers.

SWIMS Harry Boot

Your consummate all-weather boot, this casual high-top features water-resistant fabric and calf leather details…and a protective rubber belt that can take on anything.
Use case: Heavy chinos in dark colors, or anything in olive green.

Krause 1000 Mile Boot

Sharp. Oxblood is a criminally overlooked color in boots, and on this lace-up from Wolverine it makes for a great alternative to black and brown.
Use case: If you take care of them, they’ll dress up. Prefer a rugged look? Try jeans and a T.

Barker Black Lavenum Boot

“Don’t leave out boots when it comes to suits,” raps our NY editor. And fall’s a fantastic time to rock boots with formalwear. The Lavenum features a more polished look, with a bonus: the brogueing on the toe depicts a crowned Jolly Roger.
Use case: Suits. Hem your pants a little higher to show ‘em off.
