Some Dude Mocked Rory McIlroy for a Missed Putt. Then He Proved It.

There’s this joke about a man who wins $100 bucks off a bartender twice: the first time by making the bartender’s donkey laugh, the second time for making it cry.

When the bartender asks how he did it, the man says, “Well, first I told him my equipment was bigger than his. Then I proved it.”

This is like that, except replace the bartender with pro golfers Rory McIlroy and Andy Sullivan, the measuring contest with a 12-foot putt, and the titular man with a spirited spectator named David Johnson.

During a practice round at the Ryder Cup at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota, this morning, McIlroy and Sullivan were struggling to make said putt. That’s when Johnson sauntered out onto the green at the behest of Henrik Stenson, who had caught him heckling from afar. The golfers bullied the bystander into putting his proverbial money where his mouth is, and with a crisp $100 bill from Justin Rose sitting next to the ball, he did this:

Considering the U.S. has won just won one Ryder Cup in their last six attempts, the might want to consider putting Johnson on the squad.
