You Haven’t Lived Until You’ve Almost Been Incinerated by a Volcano

Skiing alongside a volcano is cool, I guess. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What is your preferred level of recreational danger? Golf? Hiking? Climbing?

How about: skiing past lava flows? Are you ready for that?

Well, if you are, strap on the GoPro and make like these Italian skiers, who decided to make good on the photo op provided by Mount Etna, one of the most active volcanoes on the planet and Italy’s largest — the perhaps more-famous Mount Vesuvius is only about 40 percent as high.

Skier Marc Tomas captured the video around sunset two weeks ago on the Sicilian volcano.

Looking for your own volcano? Mount Etna doesn’t look ready to settle down anytime soon, so an Italian holiday should provide what you need. And if you’re looking for a high-end gloss on with a similar vibe (and golf-level danger), try the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai’s new volcano-themed pop-up excursion on Hawaii’s Big Island, with helicopter fly-bys of the Kilauea Volcano.
