Jay-Z has reportedly turned down the opportunity to perform at Super Bowl LI in February, according to Sports Illustrated. Since then, the league has not finalized its plans for a performer and is “coordinating the announcement,” according to ProFootball Talk’s Mike Florio, and reported by Sports Illustrated.

Adele revealed last year that she turned down the offer. Lady Gaga ended up performing the halftime show.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told PFT that he was not going to speculate about who it might be.

“Along with Pepsi, we know that we will put on a spectacular show. When it is time to announce her name we will do it. Or his name. Or their names,” McCarthy said, reports Sports Illustrated.

Jay-Z recently dedicated a song to free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who is known for protesting the national anthem before football games to raise awareness about social injustice in America. Many say this activism is what has kept teams from signing him, reports Sports Illustrated.

Super Bowl LI is on Feb. 4 next year. It will be played at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
