But who knew the pridelands of booze was on Long Island?

Introducing the final batch of the original Pine Barrens single-malt whisky and the first ever batch of Rough Rider bourbon, both on sale now.

These delicious tipples hail from Long Island Spirits (LIS), the first distillery to open on Long Island since Prohibition.

This final batch of their original Pine Barrens Scottish-style single-malt — can’t call it Scotch outside the motherland — was the last to use Blue Point’s Old Howling Bastard “strong ale” as the whisky’s base, which gave rise to a spicy, 95-proof firewater with notes of nutmeg and cinnamon.

LIS is switching to a house-made brew, so last chance to grab the original recipe.

As for Rough Rider: it’s a brand new select bourbon reserve aged in wine casks that have been “washed” with LIS’ 180-proof brandy. The wood’s boozy character lends the finished bourbon a caramel and vanilla-tinged sweetness.
