RED Digital Camera, the go-to cameras for the film industry (and NASA), recently announced the release of the Monstro 8K VV sensor for their high-end Weapon cameras.
It’s the pinnacle of film.
What you’ll get for $80,000: Cinematic Full Frame lens coverage, 8K full format motion at up to 60 fps, ultra-detailed 35.4 megapixel stills and data speeds of up to 300 MB/s. Plus, wireless controls and a minimum of cables.
As their site notes, these camera units deliver “up to 17x more resolution than HD — and over 4x more than 4K.”
But, as one of InsideHook’s designers puts it, “80k??? That’s a distant dream for many creatives out there.”
The Monstro will ship in early 2018.
