The frogman first entered the public consciousness in 1870, when Jules Verne released 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a generation of aspiring Jacques Cousteaus added “diving bell” to their Christmas lists.

And yet 150 years later, 90% of the undersea world remains undiscovered. One of the biggest roadblocks: we’re still waiting for the proper equipment.

Enter the Exosuit, a hard metal diving apparatus from North Vancouver-based lab Nuytco Research Ltd. The Tony Stark-esque suit is equipped for sub-oceanic travel up to 1,000 feet and boasts a spec sheet that could rival an Apple User Agreement for length.

A few choice picks:

• NHD Blu-Ray Codec camera
• SONAR
• 4 x 1.6 HP thrusters (expandable to 8)
• 50-hour-capacity oxygen systems
• Umbilical and thruster jettison capability
• Six intercom stations
• 23 articulating joints
• Surface-level pressure even at maximum depth

Translation: the Exosuit allows divers to perform delicate work with unmatched agility at heretofore unknown depths. And not a diving bell in sight.
