If ever there was a speaker designed for a pool party, it’s this one.

Just launched on Kickstarter, the Cannonball is a wireless, fist-sized orb of sound that can withstand heat, water and sand. Beyond its ability to float (which makes the name a bit of a misnomer), the device also features a patent-pending “button” on the bottom that keeps it upright and steady wherever you put it — land or sea.

So it’s great for pools: the Cannonball is fully submersible up to 1 meter for 30 minutes, offers 360 degrees of sound and 33 feet of wireless range, and runs for about eight hours between charges.

The bad news? The $75 unit ($99 if you want to pick a color) doesn’t ship until November, meaning your pool party — and any smelly pirate hookers you choose to invite — will have to wait.
